Canadian pianist Maggie Morrison is currently studying at Cleveland Institute of Music as a scholarship student.
Maggie made her debut at age 9, performing with the Brantford Symphony Orchestra. In 2003, Maggie auditioned for the Young Artists Performance Academy, a Division of the Glenn Gould School for gifted young musicians, where she was accepted and awarded an entrance scholarship. She completed her ARCT in Piano Performance with First Class Honours in June of 2005.
Maggie performed with the North York Concert Orchestra in Toronto in November 2006. In May 2007, she performed Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue with the Brantford Symphony Orchestra. In July of 2008, Maggie received 4th Prize at the National Final of the Canadian Music Competition held in Quebec City. In July of 2010, Maggie was ranked 2nd in her age division at the Canadian Music Competition held in Edmonton, Alberta.
Maggie has worked with Anton Kuerti, Marc Durand, and Daniel Shapiro. She has also had lessons with Nelita True at the Eastman School of Music, with Julian Martin at The Julliard School in New York, and with Sergei Babayan at the Cleveland Institute of Music. In July of 2006, she travelled to Italy to study at the Amalfi Coast Music Festival. Maggie studied with Cecile Ousset in the summer of 2007, 2008, and 2009 in Puycelsi, France.
During the summer of 2010, Maggie attended Pinkas Zuckerman’s Young Artist Program in Ottawa on full scholarship to participate in chamber music. She also attended the Toronto Summer Music and Arts Festival on full scholarship, where she studied with Andre Laplante.
Bringing the joy of the arts to the community for all ages.
January 28th, 2011 marked the first project of Maggie Morrison's Exposure to the Arts Fund. A weekend of three recitals generated enough money to purchase 36 sets of the "Classical Music for Kids" CDs, which will be donated to schools and children's groups. Maggie was overwhelmed by the response, and is happy to report that all schools and children's programs that entered a ballot will receive a set of CDs. This project was implemented in cooperation with Kid's Can Fly, however, the next project slatted for November 2011 will be a stand alone venture.
